Re: plug wire replacement
It was a hidden one right behind the distributor, you sent me a pic showing me. I only installed the coil wire, should I replace the others as well? ill have to check all the other plugs for spark I guess? Didn't think about that?
Sorry, once i posted my question i seen you had the Tahoe boat and remembered you had the hidden fuse.
Unless you find the plug wires to be damaged for any reason or you don't know the back history of the wires or the boat, then at this point i can't foresee a reason why you would need new plug wires already. Under normal circumstances they tend to last a long time.
But since the engine is just cranking over, you should verify that good spark is first coming out of the coil then ensure the plug wires are producing good spark as well. Remember you are in the testing/diagnostics stage right now, so knowing everything is essential right now.
One other thought would be maybe the engine became flooded with fuel. So after sitting a while it may try to start on it's own without pumping the throttle especially since your carburetor has a fuel enricher as part of the working system at key up as long as there is fuel in the fuel float bowl to begin with.
If floodings is the case, you could pull the spark plugs out and check them for excessive fuel or just leave the throttle full open for 10+ minutes to allow the excessive fuel to evaporate. But pulling the plugs is a better idea that way you know if it's the/A problem.
