4.3GL-C carbed, what is the plug??? It is on the boat driver's side of the motor and I can't seem to locate if there is a wire harness that is supposed to go to it?
I'll get a pic ASAP but I did wonder if it was for fuel injection...this is a GL carbed but perhaps all the long blocks were the same so they were ready for injection for those that came with it?
I have seen several different brands of boats over the years that have unused connectors in the wiring harness. It makes sense that one harness with provisions for all the gizmos may be cheaper and easier to manage for inventory purposes than trying to keep track of and install rather than a dozen or so different ones.
its the crank trigger that comes in the motor from GM. GM provided the motor as fuel injected for trucks. Mercruiser and Volvo do not use the crank trigger when they bolt-on a carb.
Well I have a buch or other plugs on the wiring harness that are capped or hanging loose...could it be they were also for the fuel injected motors using the same wire harness for carbed and therefore not necessary?
Well the gas gauge isn't remotely accurate and says I have a 1/4 to an 8th of a tank when the thing is probably 3/4 full at least. Also, the tach is completely dead and reads zero all the time. boat does idle rough (like it has a big cam) when cold especially but I attribute that to being carbed and also to having sat for 5yrs un-used.
