Plugging Inlet in Transom

I have 2 inlets in rear of transom as you can see from below picture.

One at the bottom is my main bilge drain. The one above it and to the right is an inlet for a live well that fills up when boat goes in the water.

I never use the well really and to be honest I am worried about something going wrong with it when on the water. There is a hose line from inlet into the well and I am worried if that hose ever fails or breaks I am going to start taking on water in my bilge.

The inlet for the well is not threaded like my main drain so I cannot use a drain plug.

Can anyone offer any suggestions to plug this hole to prevent water from going into the well?

Go to Home Depot and get a screw down compression fitting that would normally be used to plug an unused drain. It goes in, and screws until your hole is filled and a tight seal is created. These come in a variety of sizes up to several inches. BTY, I don't see a photo.

Regular bilge drain compression plug won't fit in the live well drain?

You mention that your bilge drain has threads, but the live well doesn't. This type of bilge drain:

Some live well drains are smaller, but a marine store (including iboats) should have multiple size plugs.

BTW, it's not you, it's the forum acting up since a software upgrade. Pix can't dependably be uploaded via the iboats pix widget/icon/uploader. Use a 3rd party host site, like Photobucket(there are others). Upload your pix there, then post the IMG code for each pix you want to post. IMO, it works significantly better anyway & the pix are IN your posts (like mine above) rather then attachments that must be opened....
