They should not be wet. Wet indicates flooding. Check for spark.

I absolutely Hate being shocked. Anyhoo, that is no substitute for a real 5/16" open gap spark test.

Got compression also?

Proper trouble shooting should be done.----Not sure why you hesitate on the advice given.

Once you have checked compression and tested spark with a proper tester (hint: your right hand is NOT a proper tester ... as FR pointed out already :) ) you will know where the problem lies.

Otherwise, you are just throwing darts blindfolded..

Sure. A blown head gasket will do it. So will a blown piston or broken ring.

Spark on a plug is NOT A GOOD TEST.-----Still need to hear if spark will jump a gap of 3/8"", that is a true test of the condition of the magneto , coils . powerpack etc..

Ground all your plug ht wires so you dont damage the system and then turn the engine over using the starter (with fuel bulb previously primed hard). After about 3 seconds remove all the plugs, they should all be wet then

It ended up being a blown head gasket i got a new one and it sputtered, i then checked the carb and took out the highspeed adjustment needle on accident and noticed there was no needle on it so i soaked the carb in nitric acid for a couple of weeks till i could see into the venturi i then put the whole thing back together and now it runs good

Curious, did you check compression before replacing the head gasket?

Was the high speed needle the factory option replacing the fixed high speed jet ?----The original fixed jet for high speed is in the carburetor bowl.------Or are you referring to the slow speed needle about 4" long found in the upper carburetor body ?

Double check the cooling water-flow just in case the blown head gasket was a caused by an overheat.

You should have spray out of the exhaust port on the back of the leg almost immediately after starting. Test the motor in a barrel, with water about half way up the leg -- but think you need a new impeller.

agreed----- it should pump water immediately.-----Water must be 6" above the pump in a test bucket.------There is no --" stop me / shutdown feature " on this motor.-----You risk damage by not installing an impeller now.----And check the thermostat too.-----I find many of them failed in the open position.
