I have a 2003 Mercury 90hp. I have owned it 2 years now with absolutely no problems. The other day while at low forward moving idle the motor started to miss like crazy and died. I tried like crazy to restart and nothing. Even tried a tad bit of starting fluid. When I got home I figured it was the spark plugs. When I removed them they were soaked in gas and oil. So I replaced them with the same ones that were in it. NGK BUHW-2.
I ran the motor on muffs and there were not any issues. So I went fishing again the next morning. Motor started and run perfectly. Later in the day once again at low idle moving forward through a no wake zone it did it again.
The results were the same excess gas and oil on the plugs when I pulled them.
I saw a post on here that mentioned that the tilt of the motor could explain why the oil and gas end up fouling the plugs.
Any takes on this? Not sure what it could be.
