Hello everyone, I will be changing transom assembly real soon.
I want to change starter at same time, Engine is a 383 Vortec block,
with a stock GM marine unit
I can't seem to find the correct part number for a PMGR starter,
Anybody help me out here ?

there are 4 configurations of starters for GM engines. direct drive and PMGR, straight across pattern (for 153 tooth flywheels) and the staggered pattern (for 168 tooth flywheels)

so what flywheel do you have?

Scott, I don't know, St Claire marine in Michigan built the engine
It's very well built tho, I have the build sheet. I got rained out at work , I'm home now, going out to look or feel for the starter bolts, be back soon

Ok, I'm feeling pattern of bolts is across from each other, not staggered.
I'm wanting to install a PMGr starter in it, unless you know of something better?
Thanks again

are you certain? there should be both patterns in the block.

I do know there is 2 bolts in it, not staggered
I will update this when I get it out.

if the starter is there and straight across, you have a 153 tooth flywheel.
