Pocket Trawler Cabin Heater/Stove Use

I'm looking at a 1983 trailerable "mini"-trawler style boat that has a tiny stove (with chimney) for heat in the cabin. The burning area is brick lined on the bottom. An ash tray below is for cleanup and would catch any "hot" embers. The current owner has not used it and the previous owner is dead, so I'm wondering what works well for generating some cabin heat in one of these, wood chips, charcoal briquets, etc.? Anyone have any experience with such a unit? If I buy the boat I will probably eventually replace this unit with a diesel burning heater, but in the meantime I'd like to give this a try.

Thanks!

They use an aftermarket pellet material. if you Google "cabin heaters", I'm sure you'll find the correct items. More than likely, some of the Northern brethern will chime in and give you the proper name.

Here in Florida, we have heaters, too. Generally, it's the "OFF" switch on our air conditioners...:)

If it's a pellet stove, you should be able to get bagged pellets at an Agway or Tractor Supply Company. If you don't have those out on your side of the country, look for an agricultural store, or a wood stove store.
