I said to nudge the points' base plate over, not the screw.

It's up to you if whether to modify the rubbing block. Can you just send them back?

Yah I'll try that first I'll let you know how I make out. But first I have to clean the house as per wife request.

Ok you guys can sleep tonight. The cam screw would only go so far so I pried the plate over more than the cam screw would allow. I tightened the screw and rechecked the gap .020. The other point adjusted exactly as what I would expect. Possibly a slight machining error? I through the flywheel back on and gave it a tug. Massive amounts of spark. So some valuable lessons were learned and I'll be glad to see this leave the garage. Then on to a seal kit in the bottom end on a 1977 15hp evinrude. Thanks again for your input F_R.
