I have a 1977 Mercury Mariner 15hp (made by Yamaha). Can anyone tell me what the points gap should be?

Thanks

general points gap if you don't have a manual with the specification is .020 inch or 2X the thickness of a matchbook cover.

But its better to find the manual for the engine and get the correct gap and dwell.

The real setting is the dwell. The measured gap gets you close to the correct dwell, then you adjust using a tach/dwell meter.
