Given the political nature of some of the discussion here, I thought that it might be interesting to see where we all end up.
This is a 4-way chart with a Left to Right economic scale and a Libertarian to Authoritarian social scale.

The chart also makes clear that, despite popular perceptions, the opposite of fascism is not communism but anarchism (ie liberal socialism), and that the opposite of communism ( i.e. an entirely state-planned economy) is neo-liberalism (i.e. extreme deregulated economy).

Mine is:
Economic Left/Right: 7.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.46
8)

Does Big Brother, (not Bro haut), take notes and then know where you stand for future reference? Don't want to come off as paranoid here, but I don't trust some of these poll type things from any big company or news outlet. AOL is allways tryin' to get their subscribers, (I'm one) to answer stuff like this so they can taylor their content and catogorize their users. I wouldn't want Hill to know how I feel, (or George Soros either for that matter). Respectfully JR

No personal info involved. Just ~24 questions on social & economic issues. You're safe from Big Bro.d:)

L-R = 3.25
A-L = 1.54

Didn't like the test though. Some of the questions seemed loaded.

Next!!

Re: Political Compass

I wanted to like the test, but here is an example of a question that I don't think can be answered correctly:

"A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system."

That is obviously a true statement, so should I strongly agree with it although I am vehemently opposed to the implication?

So here's how I scored, but I agreed with things that I would have said "not true" to. So although the questions must be leading, I think some of them suck.

Economic Left/Right: 2.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.92

Based on the red dot, that's really a middle of the roader . . .

Haut, if I were QC, and took you seriously, I’d punch one of your only remaining lights out.

But knowing what a clown you are...

Re: Political Compass

Great site/test bekosh! I agree that the questions were both leading and forced one to a position that one may actually be truly neutral on. It would be easy to get varing results due to answering the questions literally vs from a generalist posture. That said: my score put me down where Milt Friedman was hanging out which is in rough agreement with how I see myself in my "minds eye".

Economic L/R 3.00
Social L/A -.67
