Hey all,

I recently put a Clarion CMD6 head unit in my 04 Tahoe Q4 and and a pair of 8" Fosgate M2 speakers to replace the factory rears. Huge upgrade but I'm thinking of adding more - a good sub, probably a single 10" as I'm limited for space. I could go to 12" if I mount it under the passenger side dash area, and eventually a second pair of 6" Fosgate M2's up front. My thought was to power the goodies with a Polk PA D4000.4 amp. I dont have intentions of adding a tower or more speakers. Couple questions - Would I have a need to eventually add a dedicated amp for the sub or can I just run everythink of the Polk? Also, I haven't seen alot of guys talk about the Fosgate speakers - thoughts?? And is anyone running this Polk amp - like it? Thanks!

The Polk can run it all depending on how you'll be using it. You could run the rear and front speakers together at 2 ohms to channels 1+2 and then bridge channels 3+4 to the sub. I've done this in the past without issues. If you plan to be full blast at a sound bar for more than a hour or two, then I'd recommend more amps/batteries and possible some fans. I've ran a setup like you are going to for many years using JL amps/subs/speakers no issues other than it can thermal the amp if blasting for hours and hours. My new boat has 3 JL amps, 6 speakers inside, 4 on the tower and a 13w7 sub and 3 batteries. Even with this can get hot and drain batteries within 4-5 hours. Just depends on what you plan to do during normal boat outings.
