Re: pontoon boat covers

I kinda got you guys ideas and came up with my own design.. I used a tarp big enought to cover the boat from Academy and fashioned a pvc frame. I did a cross-X pattern for legs and doubled the top rails. None of it is glued for flexibility and am able to take it apart except at the front where I made a U shape on the top rails for the front so it would bend down and keep the tarp pulled tight.

Sunbrella canvas may be $35/yard as charged to you but that's not the cost a boat manufacturer pays for it. Remember, we buy materials in bulk in such a way that we're minimizing the shipping costs. The net result can be that the boat manufacturer can do the entire job (with labor) for less than the cost of the raw materials shipped to you with tax. You might want to do the work yourself if you're a hobbyist and/or retired. If you're at all local to a boat manufacturer it's worth checking in with them.

Re: pontoon boat covers

I had two older covers I got with my 24 ft starcraft. Cut out the bad spots and sewed them together. I sprayed the cover with Thompsons water seal and let it dry. The cover feels and looks the same as before and really sheds the water. Has anyone else used Thompsons water seal on their covers?
