Pontoon Boathouse

I love boat houses but Minnesota would never allow a structure to be built in the water by a private landowner. Kicking around the idea of buying pontoons and building a pontoon "house boat" with a door on the back so I could pull my 18' fishing boat into the boat house close the door put the boat on the lift.

That's getting pretty creative....

At the very least it would need to be located on water that's never stirred by wind much. The other issue might be hauling it for the winter months. Or can you just pull it up on a beach somewhere?

Yep I can pull it up on the beach in the fall.

I know a guy that had a dive operation in the keys. He couldn't put in a dock so he built a floating one and licensed it as a boat. Voila!

Out of the water or shelter?
It appears MN allows lifts with canopies. Just can't be permanent.

I am well aware of boat lifts and canopies and Minnesota state laws regarding structures on lake shore.

I am at my max for impervious square footage on my lot.

Nope not possible unless I put the shed on pontoons.
