Pontoon defect (blemish?) on log

I just bought a 2015 Lowe pontoon that is in great shape. However, while swimming around it I noticed what looked like a hairline crack in one of the logs. See attached photo. When rubbing your finger over the "crack" it feels like a scratch. I didn't swim under the pontoon to see if the crack continued around the entire log circumference, but will do so.
The previous owner was unaware of this situation or any issues. He did subsequently speak to the Dealer about it, showing the photo. The Dealer had never seen anything like this before and opined that it was possibly a manufacturing defect, and not a hairline crack since there was no evidence of any leakage. The warranty has expired.
Has anyone seen or heard of this type of defect, problems related thereto, and any remedy?

I’m no pro at this but it looks like a cold shut. Which would be a manufacturer defect.

never seen anything like that on any pontoon, including my '06 Lowe, or any forum.
If that was a hairline crack, that toon would be full of water.
Maybe looks worse than what it is.
Aluminum experts should step in.
Maybe a good welder could fill it in by welding or brazing.

???----Pressure test the log and see if any soap bubbles show in that area.

That is concerning.

Looks like a cold crack that should not have made it past the coil stage

I agree with it being a material defect. I like to follow the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mantra so I wouldn’t mess with it as long as it isn’t leaking. A welder could run a bead along it which could be ground and polished so it doesn’t show much.

Welding is not a good idea in my opinion.
