Isn't changing the subject the favorite left tactic when cornered?

Hey me Bro Haut, I for one: tend to support American Presidents once they get elected, (especially during WAR time). I would rather have Hill or Bamma or even the Breck Girl then ol' Algore, (I did that in decending order for ya: me Bro). I think Al is just plain nuts. Very few things in his long record add up. As to my friend "the Captain", I agree Crunch: that Cornservatives, Republicans n' many Independants care 'bout hypocricy. But our Liberal friends n' modern Dems actually seem ta like hypocrisy, as they know it makes us crazy. Soooo many examples here: W. Jefferson, A. Hastings, T. Kennedy, J. PUKE Kerry, B. Frank, WJ Clinton, J. Murtha ta name jus' a very few. JR

He has taken measures to make his home more energy efficient......
He & his wife are millionaires.....
I suppose he should live in a cave to prove his point?
They are grasping at straws.....
& they know it!;)
Simply put, the well paid minions of big oil are trying their best to discredit him......
& I dismiss their mud slinging techniques....:)

So I guess it doesn’t matter how much of that deadly Green House gas you spew into the atmosphere, as long as you can afford it?..... Cool!!!!.... I don't feel so bad about my old 7,300 lb truck and old 80 hp outboard....

Thanx Haut. :p

Re: Poor Al Gore, the hypocrite......

USA Today, of all papers, did an article months ago with the headline "If Gore is a role model, we're all doomed."

The main points were:

Despite preaching about a carbon neutral lifestyle, He has three houses. Several quite large.

His fortune rests on Occidental Petroleum

He leases land to a zinc mine.

He travels around the globe on private jets.

My father used to say do as I say, not as I do.

Hmmmmm . . well let's skip hypocrisy for a minute. Other than his Global Warming Crusade, what Messr. Kopec, has Al the Crusader done, or what does Al believe, that makes you a supporter/defender?

Actually I think both sides are guilty of that. I did take some time to lookup some facts about this and here's what I came up with. I know you'll appreciate them JB.

First, the Fox News article. I had to read it several times but his spokesperson does offer some explanation.

So this is how I understand it...

Some of his power comes from the TVA which has what they call their Green Power Switch. For the balance of energy his home consumes he calculates the number of tons of carbon emissions and pays money based on that to Carbon Credit Programs. Here's a few. I just learned of this today but what it boils down to is investing an amount of capital into planting trees and renewable energy (IE business) based on how much carbon emissions you're responsible for. In addition to that he's using florescent lighting and installing solar panels. In the context of his residence it appears to me as if he does walk the walk. He does a heck of a lot more than me (not saying much).

Like you said before JB, it's easy enough to find stuff to talk about without making stuff up.

How about his big suburban and jet? I don't have an answer to that. Those still sound like fair game to me.

Speaking of "lefty tactics" here Haut, what's this I read in other threads of YOU taking credit for calling it that Algore would run?

That's a play right out of Al's play book, take credit from someone else for something they did. I beat you posting that idea by at least 2 seconds. :p :p :p

Re: Poor Al Gore, the hypocrite......

I appreciate this type of approach i386 as I do want the whole story. And I would have more respect for this guy if he did walk the walk and had since he invented Global Warming over "30 years ago".

Yes, buying credits, if they reduce and or eliminate his "carbon footprint" is OK and legitimate by me. I guess I would like to know when he decided to offset his use.

The most interesting thing I noted from the original link is that his energy use is increasing (at least it did from 2005 - 2006) Unless he increased his credit purchases, then he is hurting Kyoto if you follow my logic. What he comes close to demanding of us is to decrease our footprint, so I say, what's good for the goose . . .

Why don't you give him the opportunity to buy credits to offset whatever he does?

Hey !386, Don't know about your own personal habits, but ya probably like to use your boat, n' if it has more then oars n' a sail then you're likely jus' like the rest of us regular "Joes". Why does doin' something silly for the sake appearance let ol' Al off the hook with you? This guy has a lot of money n' lots of OXY stock, (thanks to his dad hangin' out with ol' A. Hamer when he was helpin' the USSR). He lives large, (which I don't mind at all), but [ALGORE IS THE ONE I'M TALKING ABOUT HERE not you !386] I'm not tellin' ya to stop what you are doin' n' let the Chinise or India have there way while I hold you back: which ol' Algore is doin'. Sorry for the rant. Respectfully, JR

Re: Poor Al Gore, the hypocrite......

Your point, i386.

I believe he does walk the walk, and my hat is off to him for it.

That is, of course, enlightened self interest on his part. My concern is what he plans to do with the "political capital" he is accumulating with his "see me saving the world" crusade.
