I have a '08 C-Dory 22' with a '08 Honda 90efi. I am getting the worst fuel economy that I have seen with this boat/engine setup.
I can run next to other boats with the same hull/engine combination, and I use twice the fuel that they do. We have checked everything we can think of.
We have tried different props and no change. We have checked our load weight- very similar to the other boats. I have around 90 mile range.

Before this boat, I had a '02 C-Dory 22' with twin Honda 40 carbs. This boat used half the fuel as the new one. I had 180 mile range with the twins.

I went with the 90efi on the new boat because we thought it would get better economy.

Maybe post some actual fuel usage figures and some can maybe make sense of it. Not much information in your post, just a negative statement.

Re: Poor economy Honda 90efi

After more than a year of complaining to the dealer and factory, I was finally able to get the area Tech Rep from Honda to go for a ride.
They had tried to blame everything but the engine. After the ride they agreed that there was something wrong with the engine.
They changed out all of the computer components and O2 sensors.
YES!!! I am now getting the economy that the C-Dorys are known for.
Instead of burning 2 mpg at cruise, I am now getting 4 mpg at cruise.
The dealer actually thanked me for being consistant in "bothering" him.

Roger:)

Good for you. I am starting to find that Honda isn't as great as most make them out to be. I had a Honda tech check my 225 on the dock a couple weeks ago and he said there was something wrong and I needed get it in for WARRANTY work. Took it in, the computer didn't show anything broke, even though the MAP sensor wasn't reading right and did not show I had ever run it WOT, which is not the case. The checked 5 out of 6 plugs and said they were fine, why they did not do the 6th, I don't know. They ended up charging me 1/2 hr labor and $23 for fuel injection which I didn't ask for and could have got it for 1/3 the price else where. Excuse my griping to you, but just shows the frustration on my part.
