aye, just use the two prongs on the back of the micrometer to get an ID reading.

since its a closed head (1 piece, no cylinder cap to remove)
that will give me a bottom diameter reading. now what about center and top of cylinder? those prongs wont reach.

You need a cylinder dial bore gauge. A micrometer is not the correct tool to measure a cylinder.
