Re: porta pottie in Canada

I am glad I saw this message. My wife and I were going to Canada (Long Point area from Pa. and Trent-Severn this summer, but not now. We sleep on our 19' cuddy with camper top, it does not have a pump out. P.C.

I think your ok for 35 or 45 days, whatever is legal in state the vessel is reg'd in is ok for visitors. The Trent is a scenic trip, I'm an hour away from all the Kawartha lakes it goes through-very nice. Not many boat trips that rival the Trent system if you have the time to enjoy it-lots of info on net. If you go let me know, I have all the charts for those lakes and Simcoe out to Georgian Bay scanned, np to email.

Potties are sold with boats everywhere in Canada. The removable kind or the pump-outs. I am here (Canada) and boating along time. I have never heard of any no pottie rules. Some areas require you to properly dispose of your frementations though!

Old thread but new input. Had a meeting at the local marina the other day in preperation for the upcoming season. Many folk there use a porta potti with a holding tank and dump it properly when back ashore. Seems like we are being encouraged to go over the side does it not ??? if we have to have all the pumpout hook up's in a smaller boat.

I was at a boat show recently and asked the OPP boat guys about the porta potty. They said that technically it is illegal. You would be charged (max $350) if you were doing something you shouldn't be. They said they would not issue a ticket just for having it on the boat. Suspected of dumping or someone reports you dumping it and you'll probrably get a ticket.
