First time with a boat that has a head. Before I start, I have a #1 rule only on the boat, we are day trippers.

I have a 2.5 gallon tank, and the kid at the dock was pumping this thing for 15 minutes. I kept checking the level (opened up and looked in the waste tank), and it wouldn't pump out everything. Still a layer of liquid on the bottom. Is this normal for these models, or should I replace it?

This boat is a 2006, are there better model MSD toilets on the market these days?

Don't know of which model you have but most have a 1 to 1 1/4 ID hose doing into the side of the tank. So during pumping out it will never get all of it out, because it will start sucking air

My 23' Larson cuddy had a porta potty w/pumpout. I'd take a hose at the dock and add fresh water through the toilet a couple of times while pumping. That would get it pretty clean. Like others have already said it will not pump completely dry by nature of the design. Add a little chemical and your good to go.
