I have an older 5' baseboard heater.I use it for approx 10 mins a day to slightly warm my workout room. Its been perfect. The thermostat seems to be on the fritz as it shuts off not very long after it turns on .I dont think I am gonna be able to replace the stat because of its age.I have jumped a tstat in an old a/c years ago and was thinking of doing same here.I attached a pic and am assuming connecting the double connector will jump it.Take a look and let me know if I am incorrect. Thanks Charlie

The thermostat within that unit will use mains voltage on the hot leg to switch it on and off like a light switch.

What you need to do is cut the connectors off, strip the wires and insert them into a Wago connector... Yes a wire nut wrapped in tape could work too, but I'd use a Wago for that

the 2 black wires. You could check with a volt meter to be sure. Is it 240V? There may be more wires

So, with the wires jumped out and the thermostat out of the circuit, how will you regulate the heat?

Where is the existing thermostat located? Right on the baseboard? On/ in a wall?
Or maybe there's a wall switch that can be replaced with a 120v thermostat?

Seems you should be able to find a replacement, even if it's not the exact one. It's just a 120v thermostat.

Or, you can add a thermostat on the wall with a little snaking of wire.

And @matt167 , what is a wago? I'm a retired union electrician and have never heard that term. I know there's sometimes different terminology in different areas for the same items.
Some examples:
Snake/fish tape, threaded rod/all-thread, drill/drill motor, drill bit/drill, scrap copper/rabbit/mongo....etc....

It's a push type connector that does the same thing as a wire nut but a little bit nicer of a finished product

Ok, I looked them up and I have actually used them! They have become quite popular.

I used the double slide connector that was on the Tstat to jump the 2 wires and doubled a shrinkwrap tube over it to insulate.Works perfectly for the 10-15 mins I need it to.Thanks again Matt. Charlie
