portable fuel tank leak

My 6 gal portable o/b fuel tank leaks around the swivel fitting on top of
the tank. It seems to do this when internal pressure builds up. Even
opening the screw down vent doesn't give enough pressure relief to prevent
the oozing fuel around the swivel fitting.

Is this an operator problem, or do I need to get a replacement tank. Any
particular ones to stay away from?

Not quite sure what you're talking about...is it something you can tighten? If not it sounds like it's time for a new tank. 6 gallon plastic tank is only $20-30.

Can't tighten. My tank has a swivel fitting at the point on top where the hose joins the pickup tube.

If this isn't an operator problem, I guess I'm concerned about getting another bad one. Do all the tanks like this one have this problem? Or, is it only this one?

If they all have this problem, then I need to go to a different model or brand. Between Bass Pro, West Marine, and Boat US, there are lots of brands and types to pick and choose from.

Just wondered if this is a common problem, or rare.

Try looking for a place that does Plastic welding. I had the same problem 2 years ago. No problem since

Tempo tanks are pretty good. They make ALOT of them. My 12 gallon is holding up fine...
