portable fuel tank quick disconnect

ready to add my extra 6 gal up under the casting deck (will be ttl 18 gal). I pre-plumbed so just need to hook up.

Question is in the different kinds avail is one better than the other. Only real qualifier is need to factor in arthritis. The one at the motor now is the old push and twist merc thing and that is a killer to me but don't disconnect that much so i'll live with it.

The 12 gal is hard connected now want it removeable as well as the 6 up front.

I think that they are designed to be difficult to disconnect .... least they come off accidently .
My Tohatsu has a push fit thing similar to an air line thats a push on pull off thing . Easy enough to replace sealing O rings when needed

I had trouble with the outboard I fixed for them kids , had a 2 pronged fitting that was a proper ***** to push on far enough to latch .

I have the newer Merc quick connects and I have arthritus, especially in my hands. I have no issue with connecting and disconnecting these fittings. I connect it each time I launch, and disconnecting when putting it on the trailer.

i'm falling apart everywhere but hands for this part. my ortho referred me to a specialist so i guess i'm doomed.

Look at the newer Merc connecters, almost the same as the OMC connectors from years back. Easy to just replace the ones in your fuel line.
I hear ya on the bad hands, had to learn to type even though poorly, as I can no longer write. Signing my name has become very difficult, but I can connect the fuel hose with very little effort.

since it is at the tank i realized it doesnt matter if designed for a merc or an OMC so the OMC is what i grew up with and it looks like the lever is longest between the two

I'm 1.5 hours from the boat and it's 24 years old. So when I'm on the lake I check my bilge fairly often. With the selfie stick on board I could investigate a leak immediately instead of having to wait till the next outing. Just a precaution. Doesn't take up much room.
