Hi everyone, I need to get a new prop for my 04, 15 hp mercury and I read about hooking up tachometers to your motor, can anyone tell me where or how to look them up to buy one, and how to hook it up to my motor? Ty!

Sup man. Go to tinytach.com. I have one and it works great. Just ground the ground to the block, and wrap the other wire around a spark plug wire and run the tach to the dash. Simple and effective. $75

Re: Portable tach and how to hook it up?

I actually bought a TinyTach for my OB but to only use to verify my new Faria tachometer and an old engine diagnostic meter I have had for years. The only issue I have with TinyTach is that it displays the RPMs in a digital readout (I think 1 second updates). And that's great for a stead reading, but a little hard to read if the engine is changing speeds constantly. I believe an analog tach would be better for a constantly changing engine speed. I also use it to tune my lawn maintenance equipment too. And I bought mine for $38 dollars delivered to the house...new with warrantee! JMHO!
