Hello everyone,
I seems that when I pump the primer bulb that it gets to a point where fuel comes out of the lower carb if I keep pumping the bulb...is this normal or is a carb rebuild in my future?
The motor runs though but doesn't start easy, but that could just be because of the starter not staying engaged.

Somethiing is wrong with the needle, seat, or float. What happens is, when you pump the bulb the fuel is forced into the float chamber. The float rises with the gas level until it forces the needle to close and stop the gas flow since the chamber is full. If the needle gets damaged or seat is damaged or float is saturated with fuel, it will not shut the fuel out effectively. The excess fuel will flow out of the carb like you are saying. It is not a hard repair, very inexpensive, but you do need a manual to adjust the float properly.

I am having a very similar problem, I own a 1979 merury 50hp and when i pump the bulb gas comes out of the top and bottom carb. It used to crank and run good but then would die on me and then not start. While on the water I could bang on the carb and get it started, but then would try to die and I would have to keep beating on it to keep running. Now it will not start at all. Any ideas?
