Trouble with a capital T unless you are experienced with repairing whatever is wrong with the shift. Consider it a parts motor, then it might be worth the price. The shift switch is $400 new--if you can find one. "Stuck in gear" might be due to the switch that he admits is bad, or there could be catastrophic trouble in the lower unit, or there may be nothing at all wrong with the motor, just the switch.

BTW, that is "Hydro-Electric Shift", different than "Electric Shift". And it is not a 1975. The last Hydro-Electric was 1972.

I'd pass on it. It could be an easy fix, or it could be a nightmare, and there's no way to tell without running some tests. You'd also have to run down the correct switch or cobble something up.

Read some of the electric shift threads here by searching for "electric shift," and you'll see what you're in for. If there are problems in the gearcase, you're looking at mostly unavailable parts and lots of money.

Wait for a manual shift outboard.

Some thing dosen't jive, didn't think the had "electric shft in 75'. Look at the exploded gear case view at "shop evinrude.com". Less I am missing something should be cable shift. Maybe wrong controller? my 2 cents. good luck

He does have a question mark by the year. Needs to make it bigger cause it ain't no 1975.
