To whom it may concern:

I rebuilt the "non-serviceable" pump on my 1979 70hp using the 1982 - 1984 kit. That was winter of 2005, still going strong.

I'm thinking I may need to rebuild the fuel pump on my 1972 50HP Evinrude Lark Electric Shift model 50273.

I looked through the parts list for fuel pumps on this forum and couldn't find one listed for my particular year and model, Is there another model or year pump or kit that will fit my engine?

JHO,
The info below is from a reputable asource for mail order parts for Johnson and Evinrudes, but I don't think a direct "i-boats sanctioned" forum source so I can't post the URL in open-forum....although I think I found them through a link on this site.
They do not have the kits, but this info is for a new pump and as you can see it crosses to several other pumps.
At any rate, if you are still looking, and none of the parts sources on the site can help, pm me and I'll send you the link.

I have a question on the small square fuel pump. When I took mine apart there was a small metal disk in the the valve housing area on the diaphragn side, it was loose and just sitting on the metal passage way. I do not see it in any of the pictures, it just doesn't seem right just sitting free on the valve assembly, I do not know what would keep it in that one place.

There is a disk between the larger spring and the diaphragm to protect the diaphragm.

I took it back apart and looked at the valve body again, the disk was part of the lower check valve, I compared it to the top check valve. I pulled the spring retainer clip and spring and put it back together. When I rebuilt the pump, I did not take this apart, the disk was just laying inside of the diaphram cavity. I bought the boat last year and always had a problem with the motor losing prime. We will see how it does now. Thanks

I just put in a new kit and left out the top spring because I didn't know where it was supposed to go. I don't know what the top part of the pump is used for sence no fuel flows through it. I installed the pump on the engine and it works great without priming the bulb so I guess the fuel is not going back to the tank when the motor is shut down. It would be nice to know about the top part of the pump. The new kit solved my Idling problem.

I just did this today using a Sierra rebuild kit, thanks for the thread.

Only issue I can say is different from your pump is the dish deal under your middle spring, some pumps have just a small metal dish, same diameter of the spring. Unless I am wrong and my pump was lacking this part to begin with:confused:
And the kit doesn't come with any of these replacement or springs.

My pump worked with no issues. Motor runs fine.

Hey friends. New member. My pump (even rebuilt) is leaking badly when I connect the bulb fuel line even if I open the cap on the can to relieve pressure. Have a 77 rude 35hp you can eat off of. Runs awesome. Had issues under load that turned out to be a bad coil (replaced) now if I can control this fuel leak I'm good to go Fish!!!!! Mine is the same model shown on thread. I know I rebiult it correctly, just pulling my hair out trying to understand this leak!! Have a Model # 35753H Rude. A new pump is only $80 but don't think it's faulty (I'm guessing it's me) please help
Thanks

Except it is now 6 years old. Start a model number topic of your own, Jim. Thanks
