So here is the deal, each time I go out to the lake and put the lift down and my boat into the water, I notice some sort of shiny liquid on top of the water behind my boat. I have verified that as the boat rocks in the water just a bit, and water enters the hole where the bilge pump would normal drain, this is where the gas or oil or something is coming from.
My question is this, this water is obviously coming from my bilge.....is it normal to see a small amount of fuel or oil or whatever mixed with the water leaving my bilge? I just don't (obviously) want to blow anything up.
As far as the amount (you can only notice this when the sun is at the right angle), I would say the area on the water that looks like there is fuel (or something) on top is about 5 feet by 5 feet. It starts with just a little trail as water exits the bilge and just kinda builds up until I leave the dock.
Thanks for the input. At this point, I am thinking I might want to have the mechanic check the fuel system for leaks, but I want to first make sure this is not completely normal before doing that.
