Hello, I am new and if this is in the wrong area, please move it to the correct one. I own a 1996 Sea Ray 190 Signature. It is an IO/OB with a 5.7 Merc. I may have done something very stupid with the boat. I was living in Lake Havasu City for a while and had a slip in the marina. I left the boat in the water for about a year. It grew green "fuzz" on it the bottom and outdrive. When I finnally got the boat out of the water, the green fuzz would not come off. I ran out of time and put the boat in my garage. It sat unused for about a year an a half and now has a white hard stain on it. The bottom feels rough and so does the out drive. I also am getting some small blisters on the hull also.. Did I really mess up my once really nice boat? Thanks for the help.

A good hull cleaner will probably remove the gunk. I use a product called SlimyGrimy. Works well for me. As far as the blisters go, unless they are oozing I wouldn't worry about it. It will cost you a fortune to remove them, & many times the attempts to repair them turns into a disaster.

Zing makes a cleaner for pontoon boats. It works great on the out-drives.

Well, got some toilet bowl cleaner, that worked pretty well. But would have to go through a ton to clean it off. I worked for a while on the outdrive and rear area and went through a whole bottle. I am thinking of ordering some nuhull cleaner. I have read that is supposed to be some pretty good stuff.

A buddy of mine uses SlimyGrimy as well, he swears by it. No experience here with it, just passing on what he says about it........Irv964
