Hey all,
I have an '05 Chaparral 310 with twin Mercruiser 5.7s and exactly 200 hours. While bringing it into the slip yesterday, I got an overheating alarm on the stbd engine. I'm thinking impeller. Any ideas on how to repair while in water? Is there a shutoff valve or do I just let the water run into the bilge and pump it out? Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

straight inboard or inboard/outboard?
If I/O, is the raw water pump belt driven ?

dawg, I'll assume you have Bravos or Volvo Pentas, with engine driven pumps.

When you remove the inlet hose to the pump just raise it above the water line, and the water will not rush in. You can also stuff something in the end of the hose to keep it from leaking in.
