Possible weight of boat/trailer/gear

Hey guys, looking at possibly buying a 1986 24' searay, unsure of the model right now, but it's got a 4.3L motor if it helps any (this would be my first I/O purchase, i'm used to outboards)....was wondering if someone could give me a ballpark range of how much she'd weigh with gear, tandem axle trailer, and boat fully loaded. Any info much appreciated.


*edit* I'm not looking for exact figures of anyones specific setup, just a ballpark range, as everyone brings different items/gear onboard. I would be bringing a full tank of fuel, and a cooler of water bottles/refreshments along with the needed requirements of this size of boat.

Go here and look up the boat. That'll give you boat weight and fuel/water capacities:

Then add:

water and fuel @ 8 lbs/gallon, a few hundred pounds of gear, and 1700 lbs of trailer (that's what mine weighs).

(IMO, a 4.3 in that size boat is marginal. Make sure you sea trial it with a representative load in it)

I agree with Jolin 4.3 is a bit small for that size boat. Do a good solid sea trial. Good Luck

You'll be cracking 6000 lbs at least. 4050 for the dry boat, 480 lbs of fuel, anchors, lines, coolers, beer, water tank probably another 80, wife debris and trailer at 1200-1500. Mine's about the same size and I go out at 6300. Be very careful to distribute as much weight up front, that 4.3 is gonna struggle.

Thanks for all the good info and quick replies. It's still only a possibility at this time, but if it becomes more than that I'll take all the advice from you with me when I take it for a sea-trial.
