First, I'm not looking to start a war, and I'll ask a mod to close this thread if one erupts. I love my V-P, but it wasn't the main reason I bought my current boat. Merc, however, outsells Volvo by a big margin, so chances are good my next boat will be a Mercruiser.
My own observation, primarily from what I've gleaned from the forum, is that Volvo is simpler in design and generally easier to service than Merc. Is that an accurate observation?
How are the Bravo 3's in terms of longevity and servicability overall. Do they have common weaknesses or trouble spots? I do believe there were some significant corrosion issues early on, but corrosion is at least easy to spot during an inspection.
