Well that makes sense. Sorta like a boat; the engine is pulling a lot of the time and being air cooled I understand the higher combustion temps would require a fuel with a higher knock temp/pressure rating.

So why doens't my BS air cooled lawn mower need av gas? 8)

Well, Mr. Bruce, I checked out your numbers this morning and your compression ratio's for at least one model of the Lycoming and 5.7 Chev are correct. d
