Potential 86 MerCruiser 170 Alpha Buyer

I have an opportunity to purchase an 86 Mercruiser 170 Alphpa for under $1000. The engine ran on test last year, but has not been driven in 5 years. Concerns?

The price includes boat, motor and trailer...

Seller knows of no mechanical defects. Seller owns and operates an auto repair buisness in town--rated #1 by the local newspaper readers.

There is no evidence of water in the oil. I have read and understand the threads regarding thermostat replacemeent, 4" v. 3" heat exchanger, and alternator conversion.

Any other thoughts or concerns?

It's a 470, only a different name. RUN.
Sitting for 5 years???? WHY??? RUN FASTER
