Still investigating possible solutions to the minus windshield (screen) New wrinkle is the fuel tank leaks. The tank appears to be made of fibre glass or plastice and is bonded to the hull. Considering the fact that the boat has set for so long I am considering removing the tank and replacing it. Am I kidding my self or is there a procedure for removing the tank. The seat brackets have been laminated to the hull, but the tank appears to be "glued to the hull. Does anyone in the group have any first hand knowledge of this proceedure? I thank you very kindly for any and all input.

If the tank is in fact glued in, your only option is to break it out - slow and gentle, don't want to damage the hull.<br /><br />Can you identify the leaks - cracks, pin holes?<br /><br />Aldo

What is apparent is two holes one about the size of a pencil lead the other slightly larger. The "hired hand" has suggested patching and that seems the simple solution, but my gut feeling is that there will be more problems with this tank. Thank you for taking the time to respond. And keep us all abreast of your circumstances. We continue to pray for you and yours and have faith in the wisdom of the lord. Saw, chip pry and up it pops. Found only one bad spot and it is now curing. I think we have saved the tank. Not going to make the lake this weekend but as the Brooklyn Dodgers fans used to say "wait'll next year"

Technostupeedo,<br /><br />Ah...we meet again in a land not so far away from the mother of all threads. Re: the tank, I had somewhat of a similar experience - although in a different boat. I found a 16.5 gallon plastic Tempo tank on Ebay for about $50. It was well worth it to replace. I'd do a search on Ebay and see what you come up with.. The hired hands will more than be able to re-strap and mount the tank as good as new. The gauge is easy to hook up as well. Good luck!

Well, thank you 2. But you need to look around a little. The mother of all threads, as you call it, is small potatoes (and I don't mean tomatos) <br />compared to some you find here. I appreciate the sound suggestion but a patched tank in hand is worth fifty in d e bay. Don't want to get too chatty here or the great mutha will call me before the mast again.....

The tank is in. We have employed the strapping method until after the shakedown cruise. Have feelers out for another tank. Need seats of re-upholstery, otherwise things are not too shabby.

Looks like the shake down cruise will finally come about Tuesday. We have effected repair to the seats and used bedliner paint to seal them. Will be interesting to see how this wears. Also did some cosmetic painting on the deck and above the waterline. Where did you go 2, you'll never become an Admiral at this rate.

Oh yes, one of the hold-ups has been acquiring<br />liability insurance. One company would not issue a new policy to a boat over 25years old. The classic carrier made a comment about not insureing a "pickle fork". What in the blue blalzes is a "PICKLE FORK"????

"pickle fork" is those boats that have twin sponsons on the front, a tunnel in the middle, and flat at the stern, like the hydroplane boats.

Thanks Jason, the carrier I insured the boat with took pictures and did not seem to have a problem. A you know this is a tri-hull and I just wasn't sure if that was what they were talking about as the pickle forks (for retrieving pickles) have two or three tines. <br />I went for the backspace to correct the _ to) and it my computer added this line from an email I sent to dunaruna. Well, hope I am not in the wrong pew on this one. Took the boat out on the shake down cruise. No, we did not have to be towed in. As a matter of fact it went quite well. One thing though the speedometer does not work. Found the end fo the cable but there appears to be a good deal missing. Any suggestions as to how these things work, vacuum maybe? The "hired hands" and I have been discussing how a speedometer on a boat would work. Now wheels, you know. All in all a good experience.
