I wrote in yeasterday and gave a compression readings of 65-70. you all told me to get another tester. Same readings, is the power head bad? the boat guy i talked to on the phone said 90psi is boarder line. he also said since it runs, to run it till we winterized it then we will check it out. the motor runs but has issues. I just bought the boat and it has only been run for about 2hrs total. It run good for a bit but then it quits like a gas problem or starts out lugging then runs. The people i bought the boat from are willing to help me get it fix but i dont know what to tell them. where am i heading?

Re: power head bad

Let's look at this a bit closer before any snap judgements are made. Explain exactly how the compression was taken.

I agree with DHadley. There are a lot of reasons that you could get 65-70psi readings that do not call for a rebuild. Those late 80 V6s often give compression readings that make rebuilders drool. I do not believe compression has anything to do with your problem.

Now, Robert: It is a real mistake to start a new thread to continue an active topic. We have to go search out your original thread to have any idea what you are talking about. Not many of us are willing to do that, with several hundred questions a day to read. The above should have been a reply to the original thread.

With apologies to TD and DHadley, I suggest that you resume the original thread.
