power loss - 1988 100hp

Hello all, last desperate atempt to get info, when cruising just before 2000 rpm the motor is great, just putters along, NORMALLY when you floor it the thing comes to life, and it was doing that but now something is not kicking in and it just seems to pick up RPM a little but then does not come to life, I wonder if the2nd set of carbs are not engaging...., is that electrical? I need help.

I am having the same issue on my 1994 100hp mercury - I hit a large wave and all of sudden this happened. It seems like it wants to come to life, but then it dies off. .. I noticed on mine at least theres a tube that runs into the lower unit that was ripped apart, I have a feeeling this might do it.. Let me know if you have had any luck.
