Re: Power LOSS when trying to get on plane.....

Ok, I had the motor running this morning. I just rebuilt the carbs and I purchased a johnson/evinrude primer bulb and hose. Now the motor does not want to idle. I also saw that there is some gas spitting out of the carbs. I think my motor was only running off one carb before. The reason I say that is because when I took the carbs apart the top carb was bone dry while the bottom was wet with gas. Does anyone have any ideas what may be wrong?

Are you sure the sync´n linck procedure was done according to the manual. A little spit back theu reeds and carbs can happen. I guess you had a sticking needle valve in the upper carb, which is no recommendation for the guy that first rebuild it for you ! Try to redo sync´n linck, raise the iddle and see if you can get it to iddle. If lots of fuel spits back you may have a bad reed, has to be repaired immedediately, or it can get into motor and cause damage. Reeds are located behind carb in intake and can be inspected visually when carbs are off.

sounds like the key on the flywheel sheered and the flywheel partially moved enough to throw the timing off. It happened to me a couple of years ago and it was the last thing I checked and of course that was the problem.
