Hello

I have a 1988 Johnson 88 SPL. We have used for 7 years and it ran great. One day it would start and go dead after a while. I changed the stator and it ran 3 or 4 trips and now it quits again. I checked this site out and found out that powerpacks when they get hot quit. I did the test and I have confirmed that the power pack is bad. My motor's power pack number is 583336(88-140 HP, 120 -140 Hp, 275 -300 HP). I bought a power pack from a friend but it has the number 582645(120-140 HP, 275 -300HP). When I put it on the motor does not run. What makes these power packs different. They have the same plugs and everything is the same. Could I change the wiring to the coils so it will run?

Please Help

Thanks
Dan Beech

Re: Power pack info

Can't tell you your difference your looking for. However the powerpack you have P/N 583336 has been superceeded to P/N 582262. Or you can get an aftermarket here....

88HP Johnson Powerpack
