Is there a wire on the power pack that is always hot or is there a wire thats hot to the power pack with the ignition on or will trying to turn motor over.
There should absolutely be no battery voltage being applied to that powerpack at all. Even the slightest bit of voltage will destroy it quite quickly. None of those wires should be hot.
