Re: power pack
Jonesg, Hey I ohmed out the stator on both sides and they seemed to be within range (around .550 ohms with my meter on the 2k scale). And I isolated the kill switch and ignition switch circuit by unplugging the main harness and hooking my battery straight to the starter with jumper cables and did not get fire at any of the plugs. So I feel I've narrowed it down to the power packs. I may order that adapter and check them but I will have to figure out how to do the test. As for the year and model #, I'm still having trouble finding it. And trust me, I've looked everywhere : flywheel, freezeplugs, transom mount, cylinder assemble, heads, and I even tried to cross reference the jet by calling the jet company giving them the part number to the jet! To no avail. Still working on it but I think its b/tween a 80 and an 84. 175hp Johnson. Is it possible after the test I described that it still could be the stator? Thanks for your advice
