I have an 88 Sea Ray Seville with a 4.3L Mercruiser I/O. The power steering pump front seal was leaking and the system ran dry. I replaced the pump and it works great except it drifts to port. This happens even when out of the water running the engine at idle. At full speed in the water the steering holds straight, but at idle at a standstill or at no-wake speed the steering wheel spins to the right on its own.
I know that most boats have some drift while underway, but this happens even out of the water, or in the water at a standstill.
