I have a 2000 Volvo Penta 4.3 . 4 trips ago the power steering fluid was acceptable in levels , today engine sound different and after a check I found the Power steering completely dry .

Is that normal to get so low levels after 10 hours of use ,

Could the low levels cause a issue on the power s pump . Any recommendation appreciate .

By the way I didn't see any fluid in the bilge compartment water . Steering wheel is turning with a little effort but it works ..

Thank you in advance

Ayuh,... Odds are your P/S Cooler is cracked,+ drumping the oil into the cooling water stream..

OK now it hurts , I was hopping something like "don't worry just ad fluid , that's normal"

I guess the first test is to fill the P/S with fluid and check the water coming out from the exhaust right ?.

- Cooler works only for the P/S or engine oil pass tru the cooler too? . By the way I did check the engine oil and it is as clear as it could be , So I guess not

- If P/S cooler is the problem replacing it will solve the problem or may be other issues due to the fluid passing tru the cooling water system .

Thank you for the info

Ayuh,... Just Repair or replace the cooler,... The oil won't hurt a thing...
