Just a quick question. Can anyone tell me why a mercruiser has a seperate cooling system for the power steering fluid? I does not make a lot of sense to me, not really. It just looks like more connections to leak. oil and water

Luckypenny,

The seperate cooling system for powersteering is because the main coolng does nothing for the powersteering .

More connections are places for more leaks, but if done right these things don't leak. And without cooling, the oil in the pump would just travel around under the motor cover, thru the cylinder past the manifolds and so on.The oil would get hotter and hotter.

Ergo the powersteering cooler.
DHP
