I think there may be something wrong with my power tilt and trim.
I have taken my boat with new motor out twice. It's a 2003 Mercury 50hp 2 stroke on a 14 ft Bayliner V hull. The first time was on a calm river and it ran great.
The 2nd was in about 1 ft chop on the bay and my tilt and trim was giving me trouble.
I have yet to order a trim switch for my throttle so I have to manually press the tilt button on the side of the motor.
I was at an idle and trimmed the motor up because it was shallow. As soon as I slowly begin taking off, the motor drops down to where it was before I trimmed up.
It did this time and time again but not on the river.
It stays in place when the boat is stopped or on the trailer. I can't push it down. Only happens when taking off on boat.
Am I doing something wrong or do I possibly have bad hydraulics on the tilt and trim?
