For my removal of a deck and stringer, I used the circluar saw set just at deck material thickness - especially for the larger - in the middle areas. But, around the edges, I used a smaller circular saw blade mounted to an air tool. It's an OPEN BLADE, so you need to be really careful, but the air tool does not have the power of the electric saw - you can go slower and be more precise. I was able to reach really tight places, being careful to not plunge through the hull. Worked great - can send you a photo if you want.
I also used a flexable disc on an electric drill for some heavy duty sanding.
Point is, based on the need, I tried to use the tool that fit best.
It's a dirty job no matter unless you pay to have it done...
