I'm new at this. I have a 84 60hp johnson model J60TLCRE. My question is how do I verify and add oil to the power T&T?

Re: Power trim and Tilt oil

as you look at the unit from the rear, the resovior is on the right,or starbord side, the trim motor opposite, there is a large ,usually slotted screw that is the fill for fluid, once screw removed, you fil til it begins to our out,run the tnt a couple times refilling until all air is gone and no more fluid can be put in,if the fluid is red, automatic transmission fluid for cars is ok,if it looks like tan oil,you can buy tnt fluid,I dont mix,its probably ok,but i tend to stick with what is being used,if you cant get the motor to trim up due to lack of fluid to gain acces to the fill, eng needs to be up,on the starbordside of the engine bracket, inside a hole you will fid a slotted screw this is the manual relese.unscrew ,but note,it does not come out, just turn out a few or til it stops, dont force, when loose, you can then tilt the engine manually, then use trailer locks or wood to hold up,tighten the manual relese
