My 1974 140 mercruiser broke a trim hose in the water last night. I know how to replace the hose but do I need to worry about getting the water out of the lines? Do I need to somehow bleed the system after installing hose?

I also have had a small leak coming out of the pump somwhere for awhile. Are these pumps hard to rebuild? Is the seal kit all I need?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

The hose is a pressure only hose. The likelihood of water entering is fairly slim.

You can bleed the system by opening the drain port on the pump and refilling-operating-repeat, several times.

Those pumps are plentiful and pretty cheap on e-bay.
