Power Trim Manual Relief Valve

On my 2003 Maxim With Mercruiser sterndrive, I have a OILDYNE TRIM PUMP but i can't find the Manual relief valve. Do I need to take the cover off the motor to get to it? I've looked at the manual but it's unclear. I want to verify my pistons aren't frozen stuck.

I think that has been eliminated on currect production. Not shown in this link

Yea, I looked at that manual but the only relief valve on pdf page 4 looks like you need to disasemble to the pump to get to the valve.

What would be the best way to loosen restriction to allow the trim to go up and down freely?

Messy ,but remove the 2 hoses from the pump and place in suitable container to catch the oil that comes from the rams when you push down.

or from the rams if they are easier to get to or easier to tie a bucket under.
