Power trim needed

I mentioned in another post that I am looking at an older boat. It is a 1975 browning (same as a Aerocraft fisherman). It has a Mercury outboard. The power trim is either not functional. Is it needed?

I could probably fix it but I am not sure it is worth the money to fix it.

You're going to want to bring the motor up when you launch and retrieve.

Assuming it's a less than about 100HP outboard, then power trim / tilt isn't a killer - as long as you're okay runnin' to the back of the boat and doing things manually. You won't have the ability to trim out to a more efficient plane or better hole shot - but that may not be important.

I would say yes, but that's just me.

If you want the best ride or performance, then yes.
If you don't want to tilt the motor manually, then yes.

You can pick up used systems on ebay etc.

16' aluminum? What's that got, like a max 20-40hp outboard? Max like 15-20mph? Lake usage? If so, I don't think you'll need it. Unless you're even older and more out of shape than I am.
