Power Trim Problem

Buddy has a 1985 90hp Johnson that will trim up but will not trim down. If you use the manual release it will not release the trim cylinders. I can hear the motor running but get absolutely nothing in the down position...up works like a champ. Any pointers?

An OEM Factory Service Manual would help in this situation.

inspect engine for mechanical binding. gravity should pull engine down with manual release open.

Its Stuck valve, you can try to tap on the T&T whilst someone presses the down switch, be careful the motor can drop without warning if the valve decides to release. If you are successful, drain all fluids out and replace with fresh oil. It also can be loose debris floating around in there. Grab the Motor and rock it up and down all known little tricks to make it work, good luck.
